AmaZink Live - A HOMEGROWN TOWNSHIP MUSICAL & DINING EXPERIENCE

Experience the exuberance, energy and soulful sounds of South Africa’s greatest songs.

At the entrance to the historic Boland town of Stellenbosch lies Khayamandi - meaning wonderfull nice place to live in isiXhosa. Within the myriad of winding streets lined with corrugated iron sheet houses and with one of the best views of the majestic Simonsberg, is the AmaZink theatre and restaurant – South Africa’s first Township Theatre Restaurant. On offer is very ‘lekka’ (nice) ‘kasi’ (township) cuisine designed to offer the very best of South African flavours and a music experience honouring legends such as the late great queen of South African music Miriam Makeba, the indomitable Johnny Clegg, the eclectic home grown beats of Mango Groove and many, many more.

AmaZink Live tells the story of a township through the magic of music. Songs included in the live performance include such familiar favourites as Pata Pata, The Click Song, Special Star, Skokiaan, Impi and African Dream, to name but a few. This culturally authentic musical encourages audience interaction and a chorus of entertaining waiters not only serves guests, but makes them a part of the show.

AmaZink was the runner up for the 2011 Mayoral Tourism Award for Best New Tourism Business and was nominated by the Woordfees in 2012 for the WoordTrofee for Best Contemporary Music Production.

The AmaZink LIVE experience will run annually from October to March. During the winter months (April – September) AmaZink Live is available as a function venue offering bar, catering and entertainment services.

TRANSPORT

We do have parking available at AmaZink Live and our car guards will gladly assist in ensuring the safety of your vehicle, while you enjoy our evening.

We also offer a shuttle service which must be booked in advance with your ticket. The pick-up points are:
  • NG Moederkerk (Drosdy Street, Stellenbosch) at a cost of R 40 per person return and it leaves for AmaZink Live at 18h00.
  • Lanzerac Hotel & Spa (Reception desk) at a cost of R 50 per person return and it leaves for AmaZink Live at 17h45
  • Franschhoek (pick up point and time arranged with each client) at a cost of R 95 per person return.
  • Cape Town transfers can be arranged on request with prior notice.

SHOW SCHEDULE

AmaZink Live launched in October 2011 and will be running until 31 March 2012. AmaZink Live offers an unforgettable experience for both locals and visitors from overseas. Customers will be given the chance to experience township hospitality and proudly South African music like never before.

Shows run every week on the following days:

  • Wednesday evening
  • Friday evening
  • Saturday evening
